Gibson revives the Victory, a cult favorite with modern upgrades

Features include a mahogany body, a compound fretboard radius, an Explorer headstock and more

Gibson announces the return of the Victory, a forward-facing electric guitar design that captured the imagination of players in the 1980s and has since become a cult favorite. Responding to growing demand from musicians to bring the model back to life, the Victory’s reintroduction brings a host of modern enhancements while staying true to the original’s distinctive character. You’ll discover versatile wiring, period-correct humbuckers, a compound radius 24-fret Ebony fingerboard, refined body contours, improved weight and balance, and much more.

For those who remember the original Victory or those discovering it for the first time, the new Gibson Victory models provide an opportunity to experience a piece of guitar history reimagined for the modern era. The new Victory guitars are available in Dark Green Satin, Dark Walnut Satin, and Gold Mist Satin. For the figured tops, you’ll see gloss finishes in Red Wine Burst, Iguana Burst, and Smokehouse Burst. An exclusive model is available only from Gibson.com and the Gibson Garage locations in gloss Translucent Ebony Burst.

The Victory comes with a Gibson hardshell case, ensuring that your instrument is well-protected whether you’re on the road or at home.

The reimagined Victory series—a blend of classic and modern design

These guitars are designed for players seeking limitless self-expression. Each model features an updated design, with refined body contours that improve comfort and playability. The balance and weight of the guitar have also been optimized, ensuring that it feels just right, whether you’re standing on stage or seated in the studio.

One of the standout features of the Victory is its mahogany body, complemented by a sleek satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The Victory Figured Top version adds a gloss nitrocellulose finish and an AA figured maple cap, which not only enhances the guitar’s visual appeal but also adds a touch of brightness to its tonal palette.

The Victory is topped off with the Explorer™ headstock, a nod to Gibson’s legendary designs.

Precision and playability on a compound radius 24-fret ebony fingerboard

Gibson has paid particular attention to the neck and fretboard, aiming to deliver an unparalleled playing experience. The 25.5” scale length, paired with a mahogany neck and ebony fretboard, provides a smooth, fast feel.

The compound radius fretboard is designed with versatility in mind, making it easier to play chords near the nut while offering a flatter surface for effortless string bends higher up. With 24 Plek’d medium-jumbo frets, players can expect low action across the entire fretboard.

Versatile electronics for every sound

Like the 80s Explorer, the Victory series comes equipped with two 80s Tribute humbuckers™ that accurately capture the unique fat-toned sound and rich sustain of the models from that era. These pickups are wired to push/pull master volume and tone controls, enabling coil splitting and inner/outer coil selection for a wide array of tones on tap.

This setup allows players to easily switch between humbucking and single-coil sounds, providing maximum tonal flexibility with minimal controls. The three-way pickup selector switch further expands the tonal options, making the Victory a versatile choice for any genre.

A return to form with modern flourishes

The reintroduction of the Victory series sees Gibson continue to honor its legacy while embracing the needs of contemporary musicians. Whether you choose the standard Victory or the Victory Figured Top, you’re getting a guitar that blends classic Gibson DNA with modern enhancements designed for today’s players.
