Gibson Custom Reveals Three New 1958 ES-335 Models Celebrating Gibson’s 130th Anniversary

Each limited-edition instrument features Murphy Lab aging, an unbound fingerboard, and other period-correct features

In tribute to arguably the most versatile electric guitar design of all time and celebrating Gibson’s 130th anniversary, Gibson Custom is thrilled to introduce a trio of limited-edition reissues of the 1958 ES-335 based on the iconic model’s specifications in its debut year.

Available with Murphy Lab aging in Faded Tobacco Burst and Dirty Blonde (Heavy Aged), and Tri-Burst (Light Aged), each finish option is limited to just 130 pieces worldwide. As you’d expect, the rounded ’58 neck profile is suitably substantial and features an unbound fingerboard—a characteristic of the very first ES-335 models to leave Kalamazoo in 1958.

The ES-335 was the world’s first semi-hollow electric guitar model. In continuous production since its 1958 inception, the ES-335 and its close relatives, the ES-345, ES-355, and Trini Lopez Standard, have since been featured in almost every musical genre in the hands of trailblazing artists from B.B. King and Eric Clapton to Dave Grohl and Sheryl Crow.

If you’ve considered adding one to your collection in the past but have never taken the plunge, here are seven good reasons why you need an ES-335 in your life.
