The guitar was recently the subject of a loving tribute by Gibson Custom, aged in the Murphy Lab and limited to just 150 units
During Cream’s first American tour, Eric Clapton purchased a three-pickup 1958 Les Paul™ Custom (serial number 8 6320) that he played on the seminal Disraeli Gears, on multiple tours, including with Delaney & Bonnie, and on and off throughout the late 1960s and 70s.
In 1979, he passed this storied instrument on to fellow guitar legend Albert Lee, who still treasures and performs with it today. Gibson Custom recently released a loving tribute to this iconic guitar.
Now, fans can watch Albert Lee recount his personal history with this legendary Gibson Les Paul in a brand-new video. He shares how Clapton’s surprising gift reunited him with a Les Paul guitar model he once regretted selling.
Albert also reflects on the extraordinary lineage of musicians who played this Les Paul Custom—including Paul Kossoff, John Lennon, and George Harrison—and talks about the origins of “The Duck Brothers,” a lighthearted joke that evolved into a lasting tour tradition.
Each of the 150 guitars arrives in a custom Duck Brothers-inspired case and includes a second pickguard signed by both Clapton and Lee, presented in a collectible wooden display box.
A Certificate of Authenticity booklet featuring a photograph by acclaimed photographer Chuck Stewart, a black leather Archive Series strap, and a Gibson Custom switch plate medallion are also part of this special package.
