“Luis is a remarkable young musician with a deep passion for music, especially as a vocalist and guitarist,” said Patrick Sallings, a music instructor at the Arkansas Art Academy. “With his dedication, he is poised for a bright future in the music industry.”
Erica Krusen, Global Executive Director of Gibson Gives, emphasized the importance of investing in young talent. “Supporting music education scholarships is our way of nurturing the future harmony of our world.”
Sister Rosetta Tharpe, hailed as the Godmother of Rock ’n’ Roll, was a groundbreaking artist from Cotton Plant, Arkansas. Her influence on rock music is undeniable, predating legends like Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. In addition, she was one of the first artists to play the iconic 1961 Les Paul™ SG™ Custom electric guitar.
To celebrate Tharpe’s legacy, Gibson partners with her estate to offer a collection of apparel and accessories. This collaboration highlights her lasting impact on music and culture.
