The EP is a hard-hitting, intensely focused collection, out now on Gibson Records
Serj Tankian, the GRAMMY® Award-winning lead singer and songwriter of the rock band System of a Down, has unveiled a new single and music video titled “Life’s Revengeful Son.” The track is the fourth single from his latest five-song EP, “Foundations,” available worldwide now via Gibson Records.
“Foundations” is a collection that mines music and lyrics from different eras of Tankian’s life, reframed into a hard-hitting and intensely focused compilation. Recorded primarily at his Serjical Strike Studios in Los Angeles, Tankian wrote, performed, orchestrated, and produced all the material. The EP also features the cover artwork of his original painting, “Sunburst.”
Tankian says, “I’m always moving in different directions. Repetition is boring and the death of art.” The video for the new single sees Tankian sporting a Gibson Hummingbird with a distinctive double pickguard—a gift from Gibson CEO Cesar Gueikian from his personal collection.

Limited-edition colored vinyl versions of “Foundations” are available through the Serj Tankian Store, Revolver Magazine, and select U.S. record stores. In celebration of Tankian’s Fall 2024 cover story in Revolver magazine, an exclusive dark blue marble vinyl bundled with a special edition of the magazine is also available.
This release caps an incredibly prolific year for Tankian, including the publication of his New York Times bestseller memoir “Down with the System” and a massive sold-out System of a Down concert at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, which drew over 50,000 fans.
