The photographer behind the lens
Latham, well known for her tenure as Manchester City Football Club’s first female official photographer, has gained recognition for her powerful photography, especially her work with Noel Gallagher. Her journey with Gallagher began in 2016 when she joined him on tour after leaving Manchester City. What started as a short stint photographing gigs in the U.S. evolved into a five-year adventure capturing intimate behind-the-scenes moments of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Reflecting on her work, Latham said, “The first interview that Pep [Guardiola, Manchester City manager] ever did was with Noel, and that was my last shoot before I left the club. I put my foot in the water and asked to go on a few gigs with Noel on tour, and he said, ‘Yeah, Shaz—no problem.’ When the 2016 tour started, I asked if I could shoot a couple of gigs; he said, ‘Yeah, come to America.’ I was only supposed to be there for two weeks, and it turned into five years.”

Kudos and connections
The connection between Latham and Gallagher has blossomed over the years, with Gallagher praising her work, stating, “Down the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the best photographers in the world, and I would put Sharon right up there.” The exhibition captures both the vibrancy of live performances and quieter, candid moments behind the scenes, showcasing Latham’s knack for portraying the essence of life on the road with a band.
The exhibit also draws the admiration of Lee Bartram, Head of Commercial & Marketing EMEA at Gibson. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to welcome Sharon Latham’s ‘A New World Blazing‘ to The Gibson Gallery in London,” he says. “Gibson has a great relationship with Noel Gallagher, so to see him captured in such engaging and emotional settings while on the road is a thrill and something fans are going to love. Sharon can make you feel part of the photo, like you are there watching or even performing with the artist.”
