The band’s live performance of the song inspired the recording
Ghost Hounds unveil their rendition of Patty Griffin’s “Long Ride Home,” now available on Gibson Records. The track features the original artist, Griffin, lending her voice to the band’s heartfelt cover. Lead singer SAVNT praised Griffin’s formidable talent for lyrics, noting the band’s immediate connection to the song during a live performance earlier this year.
“Patty Griffin is a lyrical genius,” says SAVNT. “When we were putting together our setlist for a show earlier this year, Thomas Tull (guitarist and lead songwriter) brought in ‘Long Ride Home’ to see how it’d fit the band. There are very few songs that are simple, beautiful, and pull at your heartstrings all at the same time.
“We all felt that same magic and knew we had to perform it. From the audience’s response, it was clear that it needed to be properly recorded, and when Patty heard it and agreed to grace us with her extraordinary voice, it was one of those moments that we will never forget.”
Ghost Hounds, a country rock band with a strong blues influence, is proving that rock is thriving for modern audiences. Led by frontman SAVNT, the group features guitarists Tyler Chiarelli and Thomas Tull, fiddler Kristin Weber, bassist Bennett Miller, and drummer Sydney Driver.
Their debut album, Roses Are Black (2019), garnered praise from outlets like Billboard and American Songwriter. With subsequent albums like A Little Calamity (2021), You Broke Me (2022), and First Last Time (2023), they’ve established themselves with hit singles and collaborations, even opening for legends such as The Rolling Stones and Guns N’ Roses.
